Evaluation as a field needs to be clearer on how we can contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>. There is a need for dialogue between evaluators, policy planners and program implementers based both in the South and the North.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Evaluation Centre hosted a series of webinars in March and April, 2021, to help better define the roles for evaluation in contributing to achieving the SDGs. These dialogues were premised on the view that as an evaluation community we must not just talk amongst ourselves but connect with program implementers and policy planners working in diverse contexts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In partnership with colleagues from India, these webinars created a space to raise a number of issues relating to how evaluations could contribute to achieving the SDGs. The webinars were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Webinar 4<\/a> | Navigating Spectacular Ambitions: <\/strong>The Role of Evaluations to Ensure the Sustainable Development Goal of \u201cNo One Left Behind\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The webinars were a means to an end to create a platform for ideas around how evaluations can contribute to achieving the SDGs. We strongly believe that a co-constructed dialogue between evaluators based in the North and South can help create energy and clarity.  The platform also will serve as a resource for evaluators to exchange ideas on approaches and methods and also celebrate successes and stories of evaluation\u2019s contribution to the SDGs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A key focus of our webinars was to better understand the competencies and capacities needed to address the evaluative needs of SDGs. The Evaluation Centre looks to partner with organizations based in the South and North to think of new models of building evaluation capacities.  We think that a dialogue focused on a co-construction of ideas, learning from diverse contexts, that does not privilege any one sector is the way forward.
